Anderson, IN 46016
A fixture on Anderson/Madison County, Sonitrol provides businesses in Central Indiana the confidence that their facilities are being carefully watched 24 hours a day. Originally meeting in their hometown of Lansing, Michigan, Scott Payne moved to the area to take over the business and Lynn soon joined. They married and the rest is history.
Founded June 1, 1964, Sonitrol, tied to a national franchise, provides Security and Fire protection products including camera systems, door access control, and intercom systems.
Why here in Madison County? “Our business was started here in Anderson by Police Officer Al Cronk and local businessman Bob Baxter, and they wanted it to remain local. Being a local company with local owners, provides excellent service for our great customers.”
What are your goals for 2015? “For 2015, the company goals are to increase sales by at least 10% and promote their industry leading monitored camera products.”
Who do you consider the most courageous person in history and why? “Queen Elizabeth I. She was the first English Queen to hold the throne by her own right. She made decisions that brought her country from the decimation of war to prosperity including financing exploration of the New World and the establishment of the British Empire.”
If you were to take that person on a tour of your business, what one thing would you want them to see? “How our technology has changed just within the past three to five years and the products we offer including an upgraded product line every six months.”
What was the defining moment when you knew your business was making a difference? “One of our larger customers had a water pipe break, our operator, through our system, was able to hear water running, contact the business enabling them to respond before significant damage occurred. They were very grateful. We make a difference every day in many ways.”
