Stifel (pronounced Steefel) Nicolaus Investments was founded by Benjamin Altheimer, Edward Rawlings in 1890 in St Louis, Missouri. Officially named Stifel Investment Company in 1917 and Stifel, Nicolaus Investment Company in 1923, the respected financial solutions group opened its first office in Anderson in July, 2007.

Steve Warner, originally from South Bend, Indiana moved here in 1995 from Kokomo after a stint in the United States Air Force as a navigator. As branch manager, Steve leads a team of three Financial Advisors as well as two Registered Client Service representatives. Stifel Nicolaus offers a strong assortment of financial products including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and insurance as well as experienced retirement counseling.

Why here in Madison County? “We came to Anderson from Kokomo, built up solid customer relationships and in the process put our own community roots down, became part of the area, raised our family here, and have been very happy with that decision.”

What are your goals for 2015? “To continue to provide clients with strong financial advice and gain new clients through referrals and reliable service.”

Who do you consider the most courageous person in history and why? “Ronald Reagan – after the Iran hostage crisis, he helped restore our national pride and optimism. I also believed in his economic policies and military strategies (peace through strength) and stance on our national defense.”

If you were to take that person on a tour of your business, what one thing would you want them to see? “Our company’s general outlook, focus on client needs and its desire to exceed them. Stifel’s leadership understands that the relationships we develop at the local level are vital and they provide us with the tools to succeed and help our clients succeed. I think President Reagan would also appreciate the Entrepreneurial Spirit of our company. We match perfectly with Madison County that way.

What was the defining moment when you knew your business was making a difference? “While there is no one defining moment, it has been especially gratifying to receive the positive feedback from valued clients letting us know that our services are appreciated. We’ve been fortunate to see referrals from existing clients translate into the celebration of multiple generations of success and security for them.”

Stifel Nicolaus, along with 12 other organizations celebrating an anniversary, will be honored at the 2015 Annual Awards Gala thanks in part to Hoosier Park Racing and Casino.
